70 Years of Democrat Rule Turned Philly into a Drug Zombie Apocalypse: Open-Air Drug Markets, Record Overdoses & Total Decay


 

Decades of one-party Democrat rule is on full display in Philadelphia, which showcases rampant open-air drug markets, sky-high overdose deaths, crushing poverty, and visible decay in what was once a thriving working-class neighborhood.

Rep. Byron Donalds saying,  

“Democrats will watch people starve. They will watch people be oppressed and they won’t lift a finger, but they’ll go to their cocktail party and talk about how they ‘stand for freedom and liberty and democracy.’ Give me a break!” 

 

And you can see what’s happening on the streets, which are littered with trash and homeless people on drugs.  

Here are some Fast Facts about Philadelphia – under Democrat rule 

1,413 overdose deaths in 2022 (record high),  

1,122 overdose deaths in 2023, and continued high numbers into 2025.  

Kensington and nearby zip codes are the epicenter, with fentanyl and xylazine (“the tranq drug”) dominating.  

Over 80% of drugs contain a mixture of the two – and there has been a sharp rise in the deaths of blacks and Hispanics.  

The Median income is around $28,000 in Kensington. 

Nearly two-thirds of residents are poor or struggling.  

High childhood poverty (over 34% below federal line), single-mother households, abandoned homes, and vacant lots.  

Violent crime rates are over 30% higher than city average in some periods.  

Property crime has spiked, and there is open drug dealing on dozens of corners. 

Encampments, zombies on tranq, trash, and public drug use are rampant and have been documented for years.  

The Kensington neighborhood in Pennsylvania has suffered under continuous Democratic leadership since the early 1950s, when Democrats seized full control of city government.  

 

No Republican has won the mayor’s office since.  

The results speak for themselves.  

The Philadelphia City Council is overwhelmingly Democratic.  

As of 2025-2026, Democrats hold 14 of 17 seats (about 82%) 

Council President: Kenyatta Johnson (Democrat) 

All major district and at-large seats dominated by Democrats 

Historical sweeps in recent elections, with Democrats taking nearly every contested seat.  

Mayor: Cherelle Parker (Democrat, elected 2023) 

District Attorney: Larry Krasner (Democrat, incumbent since 2018) 

City Commissioners: Overwhelmingly Democratic.
