The Los Angeles protester who threw rocks at ICE vehicles during the anti-ICE Riots has been arrested at the U.S. / Mexico Border
Elpidio Reyna – who has a lengthy criminal history – was taken into custody by a Border Patrol officer who was inside one of the vehicles in the attack
The 40-year-old from Compton, California, surrendered to authorities at the San Ysidro port of entry on the U.S.-Mexico border earlier Wednesday morning.
Reyna, who had been a fugitive on the FBI’s Most Wanted list since last month was wanted for allegedly assaulting a federal officer by throwing rocks and explosives at Border Patrol vehicles during violent anti-ICE riots in Paramount, California, on June 7.
During the attack, an agent was injured, and vehicles were damaged. A $50,000 reward was offered for info leading to Reyna’s arrest.
Video of the attack showed a man, later identified as Reyna, wearing a motorcycle helmet and a Los Angeles Lakers cap with a mask, hurling rocks and cinder blocks at Border Patrol vehicles near Alondra Boulevard in Paramount.
In some cases, he was seen holding a Mexican flag and standing near a burning vehicle.
The FBI’s Los Angeles Field Office put Reyna on its Most Wanted list on June 9, describing him as armed and dangerous.
In addition a search warrant was executed at Reyna’s Compton residence in June, but he was no where to be found, investigators thought he took off to Mexico.
Reyna faces charges of assault on a federal officer, which carries a maximum penalty of eight years in prison if convicted.
Additional charges may be filed for damaging government property.
DHS & FBI saying that anyone who ‘lays a hand’ on a law enforcement officer will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law – no deals.
Reyna’s criminal history includes prior arrests for felony burglary, felony possession of a controlled substance for sale, felony distribution of marijuana to a minor, DUI, and driving with a suspended license.
