Senator Tim Kaine openly admitted that most Virginians are not Democrats but said that the state still needs 90% of their congress people to be Democrats (through redistricting) so the party can fight against President Donald Trump.
People in Virginia are set to vote on the partisan redistricting that would give Democrats 90% of house seats in the state.

When asked about how this move is justifiable, especially since Kamala Harris only won the state by five points, Sen. Kaine said it’s all about stopping Trump – and not the will of the people
“We’re deeply worried that Donald Trump will try interfering with the Election Results This November or In 2028 because we saw him do it Before and we have to have a congress that will stand up to it in 2021”
“All five Republicans in Virginia went along with Donald Trump and his effort to overturn election results so we’re giving Virginians a chance…. whether they want to have a congressional delegation that will stand up against Donald Trump’s tyranny.”
Kaine’s answer did not directly explain why one party should hold 90% of Virginia’s 11 U.S. House seats when the state is heavily Republican.
The redistricting is being pushed by the highly unpopular governor of Virginia Abigail Spanberger and Barack Obama
