Super Star Comedian Dave Chappelle was attacked Tuesday night while performing as part of the “Netflix Is A Joke” festival at the Hollywood Bowl.
It happened at about 10:45 p.m. when member of the audience rushed on stage and tackled him. According to police, the man had a fake gun with a knife inside.
In the appalling video Chappelle is standing on stage when 23-year-old Isaiah Lee – identified by authorities – dives towards Chappelle and takes him down. Moments later the suspect was surrounded by security who, according to witnesses, put a beat down on Lee.

Video and pictures were posted to social media showing Lee after he was removed from the venue. In one of the pictures it appears as though Lee’s elbow is facing the wrong direction.

In another video, that has been viewed nearly 4 million times, Lee can be seen being put on a stretcher and a woman in the background could be heard saying,
“Ahhhh…..You shouldn’t have done that.”

After the onstage incident, it was back to business as usual for Chappelle who made some jokes about the person who attacked him saying, “It was a trans man.” to which the audience erupted in laughter.

Later on in the show Chappelle quipped, “I don’t know if that was part of the show. I grabbed the back of that n—-s head, his hair was spongy, absorbent.”
Chappelle received support from Jaimie Foxx and comedian Chris Rock, with Rock saying,
“Was that Will Smith?”
And Foxx saying he’s always wanted to “stomp a n–a backstage’
According to the Los Angeles Police Department Lee was arrested and is being charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon. He was booked into jail on a $30,000 bond.
