President Donald Trump is saying that House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy made the wrong move when he opted to pull five Republican representatives from the January 6 committee.
Trump made the statements when talking to talk show host Wayne Allyn Root saying that,
“This committee, it was a bad decision not to have representation on that committee. That was a very, very foolish decision because they try to pretend like they’re legit, and only when you get into the inner workings [do] you say, ‘What kind of a thing is this?’ Just a one-sided witch hunt.”
McCarthy pulled Reps. Rodney Davis (IL), Jim Banks (IN), Jim Jordan (OH), Kelly Armstrong (ND) and Troy Nehls (TX) after Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi rejected both Banks and Jordan. That’s when Pelosi picked up Reps. Liz Cheney (WY) and Adam Kinzinger (IL), a pair of Republicans often accused of being RINO’s and openly critical of Trump.
The move gave Pelosi a bi-partisan panel while solidifying a team that is unified in their hatred of Trump.
Trump also said that he has not endorsed McCarthy for speaker of the house if Republicans take control come November, but endorsed his re-election in California’s 20th Congressional District.
Many in the Republican party question McCarthy and his loyalty to the GOP after recorded phone calls were published appearing to show that the House Minority Leader saying he would tell then-President Donald Trump to resign after the Jan. 6 Capitol protest,
“The only discussion I would have with [Trump] is that I think [impeachment] will pass, and it would be my recommendation you should resign,” McCarthy said in the recording.
Rep. Liz Cheney denied recording or leaking audio from the phone call.
