The New Hampshire Attorney General’s office on Monday announced the arrest of Adam Montgomery – the father of Harmony Montgomery.
Harmony, a New Hampshire girl, vanished in 2019 at age 5 but was not reported missing until late last year.
Montgomery, who was arrested on Monday, is facing charges of second-degree murder, falsifying physical evidence, abuse of a corpse, and tampering with witnesses or informants in connection to her death.
He is accused of beating his daughter to death around Dec. 7, 2019, and concealing her body by March 4, 2020, according to authorities.
He is expected to be arraigned on Tuesday.
Attorney General John Formella said,
“While today’s arrest is a major step in this investigation, there is much work to come. Today, I do want to again express my deepest sympathies to Harmony’s family, friends, and loved ones.”
Harmony’s mother, Crystal Sorey, had contacted police in November of 2021 when she was unable to locate her daughter for months, police said.
That’s when they contacted Harmony’s father. According to court documents, police told Adam that Harmony had not been seen in more than two years and there was concern over whether she was still alive.
Harmony’s father said he left Harmony with her mother in November 2019 but Harmony’s mother said the last time she saw harmony was around Easter of 2019 on a video call.
The investigation into Harmony’s disappearances shifted to a murder investigation in August, and \ authorities concluded Montgomery was murdered in Manchester in early December 2019.
Montgomery’s remains have not been located, but authorities said biological evidence led them to “this difficult and tragic conclusion.” Authorities created a tip line for people to share any information regarding her death at 603-203-6060.
“I ask in the memory of Harmony we all try and do something nice for a child today,” Manchester Police Chief Allen Aldenberg said Monday.
