Death Toll Now At 53 In San Antonio As Texas State Senate Candidate Derek Zubeldia Blasts Biden’s ‘Inhumane’ Open Border Policy

Officials have confirmed that 53 migrants died after being abandoned inside a tractor-trailer in the sweltering Texas heat; that death toll slowly climbed from 46 on Monday.  The incident in San Antonio marked the nation’s deadliest smuggling tragedy in History.

The Chief of Mexico’s National Immigration Institute, Francisco Garduño, said the truck was packed with 67 illegal migrants. Among those who died were 27 from Mexico, 14 from Honduras, 7 from Guatemala and 2 from El Salvador.

The driver of the Semi tried to slip away by disguising himself as one of the illegal migrants, however, the driver and two other suspects were arrested and the investigation continues.

While investigators try to piece together what led to the tractor-trailer being abandoned next to a railroad track, Texas State Senate candidate Derek Zubeldia points to the source of the unprecedented crisis at the Southern border saying Joe Biden is to blame,

“A secure border SAVES lives. The Joe Biden’s Administration border policy is inhumane and puts women and children’s lives at risk and in danger daily. The 53 migrants found dead in the back of a semi truck is a direct result of Joe Biden’s horrific immigration policy that encourages death and assaults on immigrants of all ages.”

Rubén Minutti, the Mexico Consul General in San Antonio said that in addition to the 53 migrants who died nearly 20 others were taken to hospitals suffering from brain damage and internal bleeding.

The temperatures in San Antonio were about 100 degrees and those that were taken to hospitals were dehydrated and hot to the touch.

Zubeldia asserts that Joe Biden is not only causing these types of deadly situations but is failing to inform the American people of the actions he and his Administration are taking when it comes to encouraging migrants to make the dangerous journey to the United States with the expectation of being allowed entry.

In the last 8 months alone more than 1.5 million illegal migrants have been apprehended at the southern border with nearly 50% of those migrants allowed to cross into the country.

In fact, The Department of Homeland Security Secretary, Alejandro Mayorkas, instituted new guidelines saying that being in the country illegally is no longer cause for deportation, something Zubeldia feels is motivating the record setting number of migrants arriving at the U.S. – Mexico border each month,

“This Administration continues to lie to the American people telling them that the border is secure and is closed. They continue to tell the American people that their border policy is safe, orderly and humane. However under this Administration our nation has experienced record high illegal immigration which significantly increases the number of men, women and children who die and are physically and sexually assaulted on  a daily basis. The cartels are the only ones winning here as they increase their monetary revenue stream by charging people to cross.”

According to Craig Larrabee, Acting Special Agent In Charge of Homeland Security Investigations in San Antonio,  migrants typically pay $8,000 to $10,000 to be taken across the border. After they successfully cross they are loaded into vehicles, such as the tractor-trailer, and driven to San Antonio before transferring to smaller vehicles to reach their final destinations.

However, many of the migrants do not make it as far as San Antonio and those that do faced a perilous journey that may have involved sex trafficking.

According to Gil Maza, a former Border Patrol Agent, many of the women are sold to traffickers as payment for passage. In one case, a 14-year-old girl was raped numerous times by several different men before ever reaching the U.S.  – in another a father sold his own daughter to pay for his passage to the United States. Maza tells Aguayo News that these sex trafficking incidents are common place in the illegal migration system.

Migrants have died of heat exhaustion, others have drowned in the Rio Grande River. Migrant children have been found abandoned on desolate roadways and still more are lost never to be found again.

Zubeldia reminds the American people that the tragedy in San Antonio is not a one time incident but a pattern of poor policy decisions that are deadly to both migrants and American citizens alike,

“Joe Biden and the democrats have set a lot of records and they are all bad. This administration now has 746 people (that we are aware off) who have died as a direct result of their border policy. We have a record amount of Americans who have died from drug overdose from drugs that have come through as result of  this open border policy especially via Fentanyl and Meth as ingredients are gladly supplied by the Chinese to target us. They are killing Americans in record numbers. We all know a friend and family member who has been a victim of drug overdose or addiction. It affects us all.”

According to the CDC, a record setting 103,572 people died of Opioid overdose in the 12 month period leading up to January 2022 and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) has issued alerts warning people about deadly fake prescription pills laced with Fentanyl.

Most recent cases of fentanyl-related harm, overdose, and death in the U.S. are linked to illegally made fentanyl. That Fentanyl is being made in Clandestine labs in Mexico and smuggled across the border.

In the first 8 months of fiscal year 2022, according to CBP, 7.7 thousand pounds of Fentanyl was seized at the border which is more than was seized in all of 2019 and 2020 combined while President Donald Trump was in office. The TOTAL seized for those two full years was 7.6 thousand pounds.

Zubeldia is not alone in his assertation as experts and Border Patrol Agents also point to the open border policies of Joe Biden as the the reason for the increased levels illegal migration, drug trafficking and overdose deaths in the United States, with all pointing to the change in statistics from the Trump administration,

“Under the previous administration we had the best border security in my lifetime it was at a 40 year low.”

In 2020 President Donald Trump enacted border security policies including the Remain in Mexico Policy. He also invested in a border barrier and made agreements with the Northern Tri-angle countries. His moves led to some of the lowest illegal migration numbers in history. In May of 2019, 23,337 illegal migrants were apprehended at the Southern border – compare that to the nearly 240,000 illegal migrants who crossed in May of this year.

The total of illegal migrant apprehension in Fiscal Year 2019 was 458,088, that number has more tripled in the first 8 months of FY 2022 which is more than 1.5 million. In addition, the majority of illegal migrants encountered at the southern border during the Trump era were repatriated to their home countries while about half of the illegal migrants who cross during the Biden administration are allowed entry into the United States.

Illegal migration is one of the issues that Zubeldia plans to address if he is elected to the Texas State Senate and is challenging those in District 29 to join him in his fight,

“Let’s SAVE lives, let’s secure the border. Lets stop this administration’s inhumane border policy.”
