“Unfortunately this hearing is the 4th time in this committee that we’ve had a hearing on sanctuary cities… There’s many other things that we could be doing.”
It happened during a House Subcommittee hearing – after listening to the mother of 18-year-old Sheridan Grace Gorman – pouring her heart out to the representatives.
Gorman, a Loyola University freshman from Yorktown Heights, New York, was shot in the head and k*lled by an illegal migrant while walking with friends near Tobey Prinz Beach in Rogers Park.
She had been looking for the northern lights.
After Jayapal’s comments Jessica Gorman snapped back through tears, listen: “Thanks for telling me you don’t care about my m*rdered daughter”
During that hearing Gorman exposed the Democrats for their mission of prioritizing illegal migrants over American citizens, ****
“I don’t understand why it’s only the Republican side that cares about our American children!”
“Basically what you just did, what you said was, ‘I’m so sorry for your loss. I have a daughter too. I have a son. I feel your pain…'”
“You don’t feel my pain. Because the next words out of your mouth were, ‘but.'”
“There’s no but when your child is in a coffin!”
“And I need you to understand that. And if you ever want to talk about it, I’m here, I’m going to buy you a bench. I’m going to buy.”
“You can put that on the record. I’m going to buy Congress the bench. And they can come and sit and hold my hand and look me in the eye and explain to me why illegal immigrants are more important than my daughter. I really want to know what because I don’t understand!”*****

The illegal migrant charged with Sheridan’s m*rder is Jose Medina, a 25-year-old illegal migrant from Venezuela.
He came into the county illegally in May 2023, during the Biden adminstration, was apprehended and released by the Biden administration.
In June 2023 he was arrested in Chicago for shoplifting.
Despite an ICE detainer request, Chicago’s sanctuary policies prevented his transfer to ICE and he was released again.

He remained free in the city until he allegedly shot and k*lled Gorman.
Jessica Gorman also described how failed border policies and sanctuary city laws sent her daughter to her grave.
