Zohran Mamdani is facing backlash for requiring multiple forms of ID for anyone who wanted to register to be a paid emergency snow shoveler.
This, as his fellow Democrats say requiring ID to vote is “Jim Crow 2.0”.
“You too can become an emergency snow shoveler. Just show up at your local sanitation garage between 8am and 1pm tomorrow with your paperwork.”
The strict identification requirements, even for those volunteering is in sharp contrast to the no voter ID rules at polling places in the big apple.
According to official guidance from the city’s website people have to register for an appointement and are required to bring
- Two small photos
- Two original forms of identification, plus copies and
- Their Social Security card
Meanwhile New York State election laws allow most to vote without presenting any photo ID or other identification at the polls.
