The office of Nancy Pelosi is responding to allegations that the Speaker of the House pushed the daughter of newly elected Republican Congresswoman Mayra Flores.
It happened at a photo-op during the ceremony to swear in the Texas Representative. Pelosi is seen clearly elbowing the child before smiling for the picture.
Even though the incident was caught on video, a spokesperson for Pelosi took to Twitter to deny the accusations and say Pelosi was actually ‘helping’ the child,
“It’s sad to see ‘news outlets’ that know better misrepresent the Speaker’s effort to ensure Rep. Flores’ daughters wouldn’t be hidden behind her in all of the photos of such an important moment for their family,” spokesman Drew Hammill wrote.
Rep. Flores posted her response to the “Nancy Nudge’ on Sunday saying, “I am so proud of my strong, beautiful daughter for not allowing this to faze her,” adding “No child should be pushed to the side for a photo op. PERIOD!!”
