Philadelphia Police Officer Shane Seiber, 40, a 10-year veteran of the department, was shot and k*lled in West Philadelphia while responding to a call. Officer Seiber and his partner answered a report of a man with a gun on a porch in the 100 block of North 52nd Street . When the officers approached the porch, they were met with heavy gunfire in what officials described as an ambush. Seiber was hit three times. His partner, a 33-year-old father of five, was shot 12 times and is in stable but serious condition. Both officers were taken to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center. Officer Seiber leaves behind a wife, a 7-year-old son, and a 3-year-old daughter. His wife and family were by his side at the hospital before he passed. A suspect is in custody. Police recovered multiple firearms at the scene, including one taken from one of the wounded officers. Suspect Eric Lewis, 35, in the deadly ambush that killed a Philadelphia police officer, has an extensive criminal history.
