Police have identified the five people who were killed at a night club in Colorado Springs that also wounded 17 others.
According to Police Chief Adrian Vasquez, Colorado Springs Police Department, are Kelly Loving, Daniel Aston, Derrick Rump, Ashley Paugh and Raymond Green Vance.
Vance was the boyfriend of army veteran Rich Fierro’s daughter. Fierro is credited with stopping the gunman during the attack saying his military training and instincts in helped him disarm the attacker.
Rich Fierro told reporters Monday how he grabbed the gunman’s body armor and began punching him.
Authorities say Fierro and another man, Thomas James, stopped the shooter after he began spraying bullets inside Club Q on Saturday night.
Colorado Springs Mayor John Suthers credited the two men with saving many lives,
“I had the opportunity before I came here today to talk to Richard Fierro, identified as one of the two heroes that subdued the suspect in this case. And in my opinion, I think the opinion of everyone involved saved a lot of lives. I won’t talk about, you know, the nature of what he told me about the incident. I will just simply talk about I have never encountered a person who had engaged in such heroic actions that was so humble about it. He simply said to me, I was trying to protect my family.”
