#new Whistleblower prosecutor inside Letitia James’ own office says his team spent a year chasing President Trump and his family, found no crime had been committed, but were ordered to keep pursuing Trump anyway because the James wanted to charge him. Daniel Wiesenfeld, a former assistant attorney general in the Investor Protection Bureau, wrote an all staff email in August, and then was promptly fired. He’s now speaking out. Wiesenfeld said he was handed the file on July 25, 2025. The tip was a “cryptic text” from an unlisted number and suggested Donald Trump Jr. and associates were selling inside information to private companies for millions. #court He said he asked for the text and any context but his bureau chief, told him they could not give him more. He and others worked the file for a year, but found nothing. He said the team had had enough. He said the team “affirmatively conclude[d] that no crime had taken place.” He told his bosses the investigation was a waste of time and there was no way forward, but he was still ordered to send subpoenas to several banks,“wasting taxpayer dollars and the banks’ resources on what he believed was a fruitless, politically motivated investigation. Assistant Attorney General Daniel Wiesenfeld was put on leave by James after sending out an agency-wide email accusing his Bureau Chief Shamiso Maswoswe of ordering him dig up dirt and find crimes not only on Trump, but on people and companies tied to Trump like Truth Social and Hewlett-Packard He said there was no credible reason for targeting them in the email he sent out to more than 2,000 staffers before James immediately wiped it from servers.****

General Counsel Kumiki Gibson sent an email calling it an “internal” matter and saying no one was in danger.
