County cameras show her writing it as two children stood nearby, but she defended her actions by saying, “Those kids can’t read.” and “other people were doing it” Gibbins and another woman had already been removed from the meeting for refusing to stop talking. The report described a man with them as a possible lookout who wrote “Boots on the ground.” Burdette, the District 2 commissioner, is a Republican got the video through an open-records request and then called the sheriff. He said he message was “a little disturbing,” then added: “Yes, it’s chalk. Do I care? Not really. It’s not a big deal to me. But the act itself is just a civil disobedience.” He thought, from his own reading, the conduct could be a felony. Investigators filed a misdemeanor instead.
