Federal Judge Blocks Biden Admin’s Transgender Use Of Bathrooms, Participation In Sports

In what’s being called a major victory for women’s sports, a federal judge has blocked the Biden Administration’s directive allowing transgenders to play on teams that match their gender identities and allowing transgender employees and students to use restrooms that matched their gender identities.

Judge Charles Atchley Jr. of the Eastern District of Tennessee made the ruling after 20 Attorneys General sued last year saying that the federal directive would make it impossible for states to enforce their own laws banning transgender bathroom use and transgender athletes participating in girls’ sports.

In his opinion, Judge Atchley agreed saying,

“As demonstrated above, the harm alleged by the Plaintiff States is already occurring — their sovereign power to enforce their own legal code is hampered by the issuance of Defendants’ guidance and they face substantial pressure to change their state laws as a result,”

The Attorneys General are from Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee and West Virginia.
