A 20-year-old Palm Beach County man was shot in the head by police after authorities say he kidnapped a social worker, held her hostage and tortured her for 15 hours in his Boca Raton, Florida home.
Tzvi Allswang is being accused of raping, beating and threatening to kill a woman whose name is not being released.
According to a court affidavit, Allswang’s social worker went to his home on Larksburg Trail in unincorporated Boca Raton for an appointment at 6:30 Friday night.
The affidavit says when the woman tried to leave, Allswang grabbed her around her chest in a bear hug and wouldn’t let her leave. Allswang duct taped her hands together behind her back, put her phone in airplane mode and wrapped it in aluminum foil and duct tape to prevent communication.
Allswang then turned the phone back on to text the victim’s girlfriend that she was pulled over by the police, and then hours later, that she was being taken to a hotel by the police for the night.
The affidavit goes on to detail 15 hours of physical and sexual assaults.
The woman’s family reported her missing Saturday morning. When deputies arrived to the residence, they heard a scream so they broke down the door and found Allswang in a closet holding the woman at knifepoint. When he allegedly refused to comply with their orders to drop the knife, police shot him.
According to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, Allswang was transported to a hospital where he was listed in critical condition.
The woman was transported to a separate local hospital for treatment where she was listed in stable condition.
Allswang faces numerous felony charges including armed false imprisonment and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Other charges are pending.
