The woman who was shot and killed by an ICE agent in Minneapolis has been identified as 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good. Good allegedly tried to run over the agent with her SUV when he fired off the shots, hitting her front windshield.
Good identified as a lesbian and used she/her pronouns with pride flags on her social media.
Federal officials maintain the agent acted in self-defense when Good allegedly weaponized her vehicle during an active operation.
It happened on Portland Avenue in south Minneapolis, less than a mile from the site of George Floyd’s 2020 death.
ICE agents, part of a surge of 2,000 federal personnel sent to the Twin Cities area, were conducting arrests related to suspected immigration fraud when Good’s maroon Honda Pilot became involved.
According to DHS agents approached the vehicle after it blocked the street, interfering with their operation.
Agents told her to get out of the vehicle, and that’s when she reversed briefly before accelerating toward the agent, prompting the agent—who was directly in front of the car—to fire defensive shots.
She was shot in the head, and her vehicle crashed into a parked car and a light pole.
A passenger, believed to be her wife, was seen upset at the scene.
Local reactions have been hostile toward ICE, with liberal leaders quick to vilify federal agents.
Governor Tim Walz, activating the state’s Emergency Operations Center and preparing the National Guard, blamed the Trump administration for generating “fear, headlines, and conflict” for targeting illegal migrant criminals for deportation.
