A CVS in Fresno California was hit this week as a group of thieves casually walked into the story, broke into a locked liquor cabinet, fiendishly loaded up their bags with booze and walked right out of the store.
Employees at the CVS stood by, unable to do anything to stop them.
The Fresno County district attorney Lisa Smittcamp said this type of crime is unacceptable,
“It’s horrifying. What do you say? It’s just such horrible, egregious behavior. It makes us feel unsafe. It makes the prices of retail products go up. And we all pay for it.”
Smittcamp’s office said that they would indeed prosecute anyone charged with a crime based on the video, However, because of the soft on crime laws enacted in California under Democrat Governor Gavin Newsom, they may not be able to get a conviction.
Prop 47 – which says it is no longer a felony if a criminal steals less than $950 – has made criminals bolder, according to Smittcamp,
“We really need to get to being a society that says we are not going to accept this behavior. You may not walk into these stores and take whatever you want.”
Police say there is a rise in smash-and-grab looting across the state. And it’s been seen in other Democrat cities such as Chicago, Seattle and Portland.
